• A new draft City-wide LEP is being prepared that will control development and guide planning decisions made by Council and will incorporate the strategic direction outlined in the Nowra Bomaderry Structure Plan and other strategy plans. This document is currently a work in progress.
   
• Shoalhaven City Council is preparing a comprehensive management plan for the entire coastal zone of the City, stretching 165 km from Shoalhaven Heads to North Durras.
  
  Council’s coastal management responsibilities include land use zoning, development assessment, management of parks and reserves, beach safety, emergency services, vegetation management and waste management.
   

• Minister Hands Down Decision on "Heritage Estates"

  The Federal Minister for the Environment Peter Garrett AM has refused Council’s proposed rezoning and associated public works to facilitate residential development at the "Heritage Estates", Worrowing Heights under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, 1999, due to its impact on threatened species and Commonwealth land (Booderee National Park).
