Public Buildings and Facilities

Terms and Conditions of Hire are site specific. Please contact the facility`s Booking Officer for a copy of the relevant Terms and Conditions. For the School of Arts in Berry St Nowra please contact the Shoalhaven Arts Centre Management.

BONDS
A bond may be required for events. The bond is payable in advance, at the time of booking the facility. A refund of the bond will not be forwarded until the Booking Officer has attended at the facility and carried out an inspection of the facility (as appropriate). Where the facility has been left untidy (ie, garbage not removed, bin not cleared, kitchen, cutlery, crockery, appliances and/or glassware not cleaned, etc) or the facility has been damaged, the Booking Officer will contact the hirer and make arrangements for cleaning/repairs to be carried out. Any cost incurred by the Booking Officer will be deducted from the bond monies (GST then applies in this instance). The hirer is responsible for any additional cleaning costs necessary to reinstate the facility to its condition prior to the hiring and for any costs/fees incurred for the repair or replacement or any loss or damage to Council property, furniture, fittings and equipment. Where the inspection of the facility proves satisfactory, a cheque for the refund of the bond monies will be forwarded to the hirer within ten (10) working days from the inspection date. The minimum bond payable will be determined by information obtained from the Party Safe Kit form endorsed by NSW Police.

CANCELLATIONS
Should you decide not to use the facility for your event, you must advise the Booking Officer at least one (1) month prior to the booked event date otherwise you will be responsible for full payment. Where payment for the event has been made prior to cancellation, a cheque in refund of the fees and bond will be forwarded by post within fourteen (14) working days from the date of cancellation.

DEFINITION OF HIRERS:

COMMERCIAL HIRERS:
Commercial hirers are hirers that require Development Consent and/or charge for activities at the facility and are required to have their own Public Liability Insurance - see General Condition No 16 above.

CASUAL HIRERS:
Casual Hirers are hirers of any facilities owned by Shoalhaven City Council (other than incorporated bodies, sporting clubs or associations of any kind, commercial or profit-making activities) and who hire the facility on less than ten (10) days in any twelve (12) month period.

REGULAR HIRERS:
Regular Hirers are hirers of any facility owned by Shoalhaven City Council (other than incorporated bodies, sporting clubs or associations of any kind, commercial or profit-making activities) and who hire the facility on more than ten (10) days in any twelve (12) month period (insurance applies - see General Condition No 16 above).

  All fees and charges for the hire of public halls and community centres are payable in advance - when client pays by cheque, minimum five (5) working days in advance.
