blueprint Shoalhaven Youth Vision Beyond 2020 - Survey

For 12-24 year olds who live in the Shoalhaven.
blueprint Shoalhaven is about all of us being part of planning the future for our region. Living and Learning in the Shoalhaven is future opportunities for more education and training; jobs and career options to grow our Shoalhaven.

Because of this, blueprint Shoalhaven and Shoalhaven Youth Vision Committee are seeking the thoughts, aspirations and future visions of a diverse range of Shoalhaven Youth. Your participation in this Youth survey is important. This is about your thoughts being part of a Vision for the Shoalhaven for our future planning for education and training; business growth and career opportunities; local, state and federal government planning. Your participation is appreciated.

Youth Advisory Committee - What Do They Do?

The Shoalhaven Youth Advisory Committee contributes to the community by providing ideas, suggestion and recommendations to Shoalhaven City Council about issues that directly affect the young people that they represent.

The Shoalhaven Youth Advisory Committee gives you a chance to share your ideas and concerns for the Community. By participating in the Youth Advisory Committee you will gain beneficial experience in Local Government and Community affairs.

History

The Shoalhaven Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) was established in 1996. This was a result of Council’s consultations with the community, including young people, who recommended that Council set up such a Committee to represent the interests & views of young people to Council & the community.

Since 1996, over 60 local young people have participated in the Youth Advisory, both as nominated youth reps and as invited guests. 

Current Activities Include

Participation in Youth Week Steering Committee & the Safer Community Action Team

Youth Advisory Website development

Development and distribution of Youth Advisory Committee Badges and pamphlets

Get Involved

Anyone aged 15 to 25 years living in the Shoalhaven region can be involved.

If you decide to join YAC, then you will need to attend a meeting every month (alternately – the formal meeting & an informal gathering of youth reps).

Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee will be held on Wednesday 19th November 2008 @ 5:00pm in Committee Rooms 1 & 2.
