Query Language

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

information retrieval
   		 finds documents containing the phrase 'information retrieval'
information or retrieval
   		 finds documents containing either 'information' or 'retrieval'
information and retrieval
   		 finds documents containing both 'information' and 'retrieval'
information near retrieval
   		 finds documents containing 'information' near 'retrieval' in the document
information and not retrieval
   		 finds documents containing 'information' but not 'retrieval'
(information and not retrieval) and policy
   		 finds documents containing 'policy', plus 'information' but not 'retrieval'
pay*
   		 finds documents containing words starting with 'pay'
