The ClubGRANTS allows registered clubs with taxable gaming machine revenue over $1 million to apply 2.25% of that revenue to specific community development and support projects. At least 0.75% of funding from each club is to be allocated to Category 1 projects. A ClubGRANT Local Committee has been formed in the Shoalhaven Local Government area to make recommendations for Category 1 funding.
Community organisations may apply for funding towards local community service needs and priorities from the ClubGRANTS. Examples of projects that may be eligible for Category 1 funding are: Community Welfare Services, Community Development, Community Health Services and Employment Assistance Activities. Funding applications for programs, projects and services assisting people with disabilities, older people, people from non-English speaking backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, women, men and young people are particularly encouraged.
Community Builders
The Community Builders Funding Program (replacing the old Area Assistance Scheme) is a community strengthening and capacity building program. The Program includes both fixed term funding available each year for new projects, and a renewable component that comprises former Community Services Grants Program (CSGP) services transferring to the Community Builders Program.
Shoalhaven City Council receives a subsidy from the Community Builders scheme to:
- Provide information about community development practice to community organisations in their LGA as it relates to community strengthening and capacity building.
- Provide information to community organisations about CB program, its priorities and funding processes.
- Assist community organisations intending to apply for CB funding to refine their proposed projects in anticipation of applications being called for.
