Proposed decommissioning of public amenities

Wharf Road Berry
Please note that Council proposes to decommission the public amenities at Wharf Road, Berry.

The amenities are:

  • reaching the end of their servicable life (constructed 1974)
  • currently require improvements to the sewer retention
  • will in the future require upgrades to the sewer and water
  • do not comply with current accessibility legislation
  • have very low patronage
  • were identified in Council's Asset Management Plan (AMP) Public Amenities - in 2005 as not requiring replacement

Council consulted with the Berry Alliance in relation to this matter.  The Berry Alliance placed a copy of the letter in the June 2011 edition of the Berry Crier and Shoalhaven City Council placed a notice in the public amenities prior to Christmas.  No response was received indicating that this decommission was not favoured.
